Question : Food Processing Units in Andhra Pradesh

(a) whether the Government is aware that State Industrial Development Corporation, Government of Andhra Pradesh (AP), with a view to push food
processing in the State, has constituted AP Urban Infrastructure Asset Management Ltd, as project consultancy;

(b) whether the Government is also aware that the State Government of Andhra Pradesh is planning to set up, at least, one food processing unit, incubation centre, food testing laboratory, skill development centre in every Parliamentary Constituency; and

(c) if so, whether the Government is going to help the State to push in food processing in AP and export the same to earn foreign exchange for the country?

(a) & (b): Yes Sir, As conveyed by Andhra Pradesh Food Processing Society (APFPS), Industries & Commerce Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh, it has appointed AP Urban Infrastructure Asset Management Ltd as Project management Consultancy for the project of establishing secondary food processing units across all the Parliamentary Constituencies. APFPS has plans to set up one incubation centers and one skill development center in each district through centrally sponsored PM Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme administered by Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) and one Food Testing Laboratory in each district through MoFPI and other Government schemes.

(c): MoFPI supports all the state Governments, including Andhra Pradesh, in their endeavor to develop Food Processing sector through Central Sector Umbrella Scheme of Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAPADA Yojana (PMKSY) and Centrally Sponsored PMFME scheme. A total of 3 Mega Food Parks, 28 Cold Chain Projects, 1 Agro Processing Cluster, 4 Food Processing Units, 1 Operation Greens project and 4 Food Testing Laboratories have already been approved for assistance under component schemes of PMKSY in Andhra Pradesh.
