Question : Funds to Maharashtra for Tribal Development

(a) the amount of funds provided to the Governmentof Maharashtra under article 275 of the Constitutionduring the last three years;

(b) the type of development works specified onwhich the said funds provided under article 275 can bespent;

(c) whether development works have been carriedout in the districts of Maharashtra by spending the saidfunds;

(d) if so, the names of the said districts; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. †*308 FOR 16.03.2020 REGARDING “FUNDS TO MAHARASHTRA FOR TRIBAL DEVELOPMENT”

(a) The funds provided to Government of Maharashtra under Article 275 of the Constitution during the last three years, i.e. 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19, are Rs.11536.53 lakh, Rs. 13862.24 lakh and Rs. 17015.91 lakh respectively.
(b) & (c) Grants under Article 275(1) are intended to address need of plugging critical gaps. It is only an additive to State efforts for tribal development, with fund flow under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) strategy.The scheme envisages prioritization among sectoral activities such as education, health, agriculture and allied activities, other income generating schemes and administrative structure.
(d) Yes Sir. As per report submitted by the State Govt., development work under the scheme have been carried out in the districts of Thane, Raigad, Pune, Nashik, Dhule, Ahemadnagar, Jalgaon, Nandurbar, Amravati, Akola, Yevatmal, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Palghar.
(e) Does not arise.
