(a)to(e): On account of enhanced production by Coal India Limited (CIL), the country has moved from a regime of coal scarcity to a coal surplus situation. The vendible stock of CIL has increased from 53.62 Mt. as on 01.04.2015 to 61.92 Mt. as on 01.04.2017. The off-take / dispatch of coal of CIL has also increased from 488.86 Mt in 2014-15 to 542.82 Mt. in 2016-17. The vendible stock of CIL even on 01.07.2017 was 49.90 Mt. Production is likely to further increase due to planned enhancement in productivity and deployment of Heavy Earth Moving Machineries.
CIL has identified 65 new/expansion projects for being taken up as per the 1 Bt roadmap. Out of these, 18 projects, having a production capacity of 118.81 MT, have already been approved. 47 projects are under various stages of formulation & approval. 12 mines are planned by the end of 2019-20 to achieve the target of 68 MT in Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL).
All India coal production has increased from 565.77 Mt in 2013-14 to 659.27 Mt in 2016-17. CIL has increased its production from 462.41 Mt in 2013-14 to 554.14 Mt in 2016-17. The increase of 91.73 Mt. in actual production achieved by CIL in the last four years took almost seven years to achieve before 2013-14.
