Question : Schemes for Training


(a) Whether the Government has prepared any scheme for imparting knowledge/giving training to farmers regarding the latest machinery and technology to increase production and improving the quality of their crops across the country including Gujarat;
(b) If so, the details thereof;
(c) Whether the Government has taken any steps to help increasing the income of farmers by selecting the most adaptable and high yielding verities of seeds along with encouraging farmers to adopt latest techniques for agriculture; and
(d) If so, the details thereof;

(a) & (b): Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, has established four Regional Farm Machinery training and Testing Institutes (FMTTIs) in the country, located at Budni (Madhya Pradesh), Hisar (Haryana), Garladinne (Andhra Pradesh) and Biswanath Chariali (Assam). These institutes are organizing in campus & off campus Training programmes on different aspects of Agricultural Machinery & Technology viz; operational techniques, Maintenance, repair and management of agricultural machinery for different categories of beneficiaries viz; farmers, rural youth, Migrant labourers, technicians and rural artisans, under graduate engineers, nominees from government &NGO, etc on pan India level, including Gujarat. These Farm Machinery Training and Testing Institutes also undertake demonstrations of newly developed agricultural /horticultural equipments and post-harvest technology, at farmers’ fields.

(c) & (d): For the giving knowledge on package of practices, production technology aspects etc. training is provided to the farmers under the component Seed Village Programme of Sub-Mission on Seeds & Planting Materials (SMSP) to grow high yielding varieties of different crops for enhancing agricultural production and productivity which also help increasing the income of farmers in the country. The details of amount released, seed distributed, quantity of quality seeds produced and number of farmers trained under Seed Village Programme is as under:
