Question : Broadband Connectivity of Gram Panchayats in Maharashtra

(a) the total number of Gram Panchayats in Maharashtra where broadband connectivity has still not reached, the details thereof, district-wise;

(b) the names of cities in Rajasthan where BSNL is providing 4G facility, the details thereof; and

(c) the action plan formulated by Government to take internet services to the rural areas of Maharashtra?

(a) Details under BharatNet are enclosed in the Annexure.
(b) BSNL has not yet launched 4G services so far.
(c) BharatNet is being implemented for providing broadband connectivity to all Gram Panchayats (approx. 2,50,000) in the country, including Maharashtra. Under Phase-I, 1,00,000 Gram Panchayats (GPs) are being connected by laying Optical Fibre Cable (OFC). Out of total 27,737 Gram Panchayats (GPs) in Maharashtra, 15,301 GPs have been taken up in BharatNet Phase-1. The balance GPs will be taken up in Phase II of BharatNet project.

As on 09.07.2017, a total of 25,129 Km (covering 11,843 GPs) Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) has been laid. 1,992 GPs have been provided with broadband connectivity in Maharashtra.
