(a) : In pursuance of the Government’s vision of facilitating housing to all by 2022, the Government launched Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban)-Housing for All {PMAY(U)-HFA} Mission on 25.06.2015. The Mission aims to provide assistance to all States/UTs in addressing the housing requirement of the urban poor including slum dwellers [Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Low Income Group (LIG) Categories] through the following four verticals:
i. “In situ” Slum Redevelopment through private participation using land as resource (ISSR);
ii. Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS);
iii. Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP); and
iv. Subsidy for Beneficiary-Led individual house Construction or enhancement (BLC).
Government of India has recently launched a new CLSS scheme to provide interest subsidy for housing loans to eligible beneficiaries belonging to Middle Income Group (CLSS for MIG). The scheme is being implemented initially for a period of one year w.e.f 01.01.2017.
(b): State-wise details of central assistance approved, sanctioned for release and released for utilization including that of Gujarat under the Mission during the last three years and the current year are annexed.
(c) to (d): Under the Housing for All scheme, no State-wise targets have been set by the Ministry. States/UTs are required to undertake a demand assessment and validate the same to determine the actual requirement of houses to be covered under the PMAY (U) Mission.
Under PMAY (U), Ministry has so far sanctioned 21,00,475 houses {including 1,41,848 houses of the subsumed projects of Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY)} in States/UTs. As of now, construction of 1,33,999 houses has been completed.
