Question : Crop Loss due to Adverse Weather Conditions

(a) whether there are reports of loss of crops due to adverse weather conditions such as cold wave, frost, flood and seasonal rains in the country;

(b) if so, the extent of loss suffered during each of the last three years and the current year, State and crop-wise both for Rabi and Kharif seasons; and

(c) the financial assistance sought and actually provided to various States/UTs for the same during the said period?

(a) & (b): Yes, Madam. The Government of India does not maintain centrally calamity-wise/crop-wise/season-wise damage to crops caused due to adverse weather conditions including cold wave, frost and seasonal rains etc. However, based on the information received from the States/UTs, details of areas having crop loss due to listed natural calamities including floods/landslides/cloudburst/cyclonic storm etc. during 2015-16 to 2018-19 are given at Annexure-I.


(c): The details of allocation and release from SDRF and NDRF to different States and Union Territories for the purpose of relief, during 2015-16 to 2018-19 is given at Annexure-II.
