Question : Compensation to Families of Deceased Businessmen

(a) whether the families of accidental deaths and suicides of MSME businessmen in 2020 have been compensated by the Union Government and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the MSME schemes put in place by the Union Government are being utilized to prevent this disaster from happening again; and

(c) the details of funds allocated and spent under MSME schemes for COVID-19 relief?

(a) & (b): The Ministry of MSME does not maintain data of accidental deaths and suicides of MSME businessmen. However, to address Covid-19 related issues, Government has taken a number of initiatives under ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ to support the MSME Sector in the country which inter-alia include measures such as (i) Rs. 4.5 lakh crore Collateral free Automatic Loans under Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) for businesses, including MSMEs; (ii) Rs. 20,000 crore Credit Guarantee Scheme for Subordinate Debt (CGSSD); (iii) Rs. 50,000 crore equity infusion through Self Reliant India Fund (SRI Fund).

For the growth and development of MSME Sector in the country the Ministry of MSME implements various schemes and programmes. These schemes and programmes inter-alia include Prime Minister’s Employment Generation programme (PMEGP), Credit Guarantee Scheme (CGS), Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI), A Scheme for Promoting Innovation, Rural Industry & Entrepreneurship (ASPIRE) and Micro and Small Enterprises Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP), etc.

(c): Under MSME schemes for COVID-19 relief, Rs. 2.82 lakh crore of loans have been sanctioned as on 19.11.2021 under Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) and a total number of 754 guarantees were approved amounting to Rs 81.47 crore as on 18.11.2021 under Credit Guarantee Scheme for Subordinate Debt (CGSSD).
