(a)the details of guidelines/norms fixed by the Government to open an ESI hospital in any State;
(b)whether the Government proposes to open an ESI hospital in Koppal- Karnataka and has also received any proposal from the State Government of Karnataka in this regard; and
(c)if so, the details thereof?

(a): Norms for setting up of Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) hospital, based on Insured Person(IP) population, are at Annexure. Further, the ESI Corporation has decided that the health facility should be created not based on the present IP population but on the basis of projected population of the IP after a period of three years for dispensaries and five years for hospitals and also on the basis of geographical necessity.
(b) &(c): The ESI Corporation has received proposal from the State Government of Karnataka to open an ESI hospital in Koppal-Karnataka. The matter has been examined by ESIC. IP population at present in Koppal, Karnataka is below 2000 which is likely to be increased to 10,000 in near future and after implementation in newly identified areas. Thus, at present, is no proposal to open ESI hospital in Koppal, Karnataka.
