(a) to (d) The Ministry of Rural Development in consultation with the Planning
Commission has decided to initially launch a pilot phase for the implementation of the
Scheme Provision of Urban Amenities in Rural Areas (PURA). Under the pilot phase, 7
facilities namely power, telecom, road and transportation, health, education, water supply and
marketing are envisaged to be provided in the selected clusters. The pilot phase is being
launched in Seven States with one cluster in each state comprising 10 - 15 villages. The pilot
phase is likely to be completed in two to three years time with an estimated cost of Rs.4 to 5
crore per cluster. In the initial phase the scheme is to provide physical connectivity in the
selected clusters. The details of the States, districts and clusters selected for the
implementation of the scheme in pilot phase, along with the position of funds released are
given below:
