(a) & (b) Yes Sir. Under the ''Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids and Appliances (ADIP)'' Scheme, there is a provision for providing battery operated motorized tricycles and motorized wheelchairs for severely disabled and for persons suffering from Quadriplegia, Muscular Dystrophy, Stroke, Cerebral Palsy, Hemipeligia and any other person with similar conditions, where either three/four limbs or one half of the body are severely impaired. Extent of subsidy provided under the scheme is Rs.25,000/-.
(c) The eligibility conditions for providing such vehicles are as under:-
i. An Indian citizen.
ii. Holds 80 % or more disablement certificate.
iii. Has monthly income from all sources not exceeding Rs.15,000/- per month for getting full subsidy. Income from all sources ranging from Rs.15,001/- to Rs.20,000/- for getting 50% subsidy.
iv. To be provided once in ten years.
v. To be provided to persons aged 16 years and above.
(d) The price of battery operated Motorized Tricycle is Rs. 37,000/- while the price of battery operated Wheelchair is Rs. 65,000/-. The extent of subsidy provided by the department under the ADIP Scheme is Rs.25,000/- while the difference is met by various sources including the State Government.
Besides, the State Governments may also distribute Motorized Tricycles/Motorized Wheelchairs on their own by paying the full amount.
