Question : MOIL India Ltd.

(a) the details of names of various mines falling under the Balaghat Parliamentary Constitutuency under the MOIL India Ltd.;
(b) whether there is any provision for adopting the villages falling under the mine area by the MOIL companies;
(c) if so, the mine-wise details of the villages adopted by the MOIL India Ltd. in Balaghat Parliamentary constituency;
(d) whether there is any provision to grant funds for village development by the MOIL management in villages adopted by the MOIL India Ltd. and if so, the details thereof; and
(e) the mine-wise details of various works carried out in these villages during the last five years including the cost incurred upon such works?

(a) There are four (04) mines of MOIL falling under the Balaghat Parliamentary Constituency namely Balaghat, Tirodi, Sitapatore and Ukwa.

(b)to(d): There is no provision for adopting the villages falling under the mine area by the company (MOIL). However, as per the provisions of Companies Act, 2013 Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) including MOIL under Ministry of Steel earmark at least 2% of the average net profits made during the three immediately preceding financial years for Corporate Social responsibility (CSR) activities. The thrust areas of the CSR activities are broadly listed in Schedule VII of the companies Act, 2013 and inter-alia include promotion of education and health, women empowerment, access to water and sanitation facilities, environmental sustainability, enhancing vocational skills etc. CSR activities/projects by CPSEs including MOIL under Ministry of Steel are mainly carried out in and around the periphery of plants, townships and mines.

(e) MOIL has taken up various CSR activities in Balaghat constituency as per the guidelines including community development programme in five identified villages near Balaghat mines namely Awalazari, Bharveli, Hirapur, Manzara and Tavazari. The amount incurred during the last 05 years under CSR activities in Balaghat Parliamentary constituency is as following:-
