Question : FUNDS TO NGOs FOR IMPARING COMPUTER EDUCATION



(a) the details of Non-Governmental Organisations that were allocated funds for imparting computer education to the tribais alongwith the funds provided to each NGO during 1998-99, 1999-2000 and 2000-2001, State-wise;

(b) whether any special institutes are likely to be set up for making the computer education within the reach of tribal students;

(c) if so, the details of plans of the Governmentto make a large number of tribal students familiar with computer training and knowledge;

(d) whether the Government run residential schools are imparting education to tribal children: and

(e) if so, the name of NGOs that are assisting and assigned the task for this purpose, State-wise?

THE MINISTER OF TRIBAL AFFAIRS (SHRI JUAL ORAM) :

(a) State-wise details of Non-Governmental Organisations allocated funds for imparting computer education to the tribais during the years 1 998-99, 1999-2000 and 2000-01 is enclosed as statement-I.

(b) No,Sir. No such proposal is under consideration of the Ministry at present.

(c) Does not arise. However, under the existing scheme of Grant in aid to Voluntary Organizations working for the welfare of Scheduled Tribes, Non-Governmental Organizations are being funded for imparting computer training and knoweldge to the tribais.

(d) Yes, Sir.

(e) The name of NGOs assisted and assigned the task of running the residential schools, State-wise are contained as statement-II.
