Question : Schemes for Increasing Availability of Seeds

(a) the schemes/programmes being implemented by the Government to increase production/availability of quality seeds in the country;

(b) whether the said schemes/ programmes have achieved the desired results in the country;

(c) if so, the details thereof along with the quantum of increase recorded in the production of quality seeds across the country during each of the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise and Scheme-wise;

(d) whether the Government has provided adequate funds under the said schemes/programmes in the country;

(e) if so, the details thereof, State-wise and if not, the reasons therefor; and

(f) the other steps taken/being taken by the Government to ensure adequate quantity of quality seeds across the country?

(a): The Government is implementing the different crop development programmes viz. National Food Security Mission, Sub-Mission on Seeds and Planting Materials, Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture, National Mission on Oilseeds and Oil Palm and Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana to increase production/availability of quality seeds in the country.

(b) & (c ) Yes, Madam. The details of States/Union Territories wise quantities of quality seed produced against the requirement in the Country during each of the last three years and the current year are at Annexure – I.

(d) to (f) Yes, Madam. The details of States/Union Territories wise funds released under various crop development programmes are at Annexure –II to VI.
