Question : LANDLESS PEOPLE

to the reply given to Unstarred Question No. 6739 on 17 May, 2012 regarding `allocation of land to landless people` and state:

(a) whether the Prime Minister`s Office has taken any action on the report submittedby the Cabinet Secretariat on land reforms;

(b) if so, the action taken or proposed to be taken to provide access way to each farmerincluding the farmers belonging to SC/ST communities to go to their ownagricultural fields;

(c) if so, the details thereof;

(d) if not, the reasons therefor;

(e) whether the Government proposes to formulate any scheme to allot `Sawai Chak` land available with State Governments to the landless families belonging to scheduled castes; and

(f) if so, the details thereof?

MINISTER OF STATE FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT (SHRI UPENDRA KUSHWAHA)

(a) to (f): On the directions of the Prime Minister`s Office, a preparatory meeting was held with the members of the National Council for Land Reforms under the Chairmanship of Union Minister of Rural Development on 26.06.2012. Land and its management falls under the exclusive legislative and administrative jurisdiction of the States as provided in Entry No. 18 of List II (State List) of the Seventh Schedule to the Constitution. As per information received from Government of Rajasthan, under the Rajasthan Land Revenue (Allotment for land for agriculture purposes) Rules, 1970, `Sawai Chak is being allotted to landless families including landless families of Scheduled Castes.
