(a) to (d): The recommendations of the Nitish Sengupta Committee Report are under consideration of the Government. However, some of the measures taken to safeguard the interests of Public Sector Undertaking (PSU ) Oil Companies are:

(i) Conferring of Navaratna status to Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPC) and Gas Authority of India Ltd., (GAIL) and consequent further delegation of authority in regard to decision making within the guidelines.

(ii) Formation of joint ventures by PSU Oil Companies.

(iii) Diversification.

(iv) Business Process Re-engineering.

(v) Addition of capacities.

(vi) Phased dismantling of Administered Pricing Mechanism (APM) and deregulation.
