Question : International Curriculum of CBSE

(a) whether the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to discontinue
the CBSE international curriculum from the next year and if so, the reasons therefor;
(b) whether the CBSE had made any consultations with heads of schools which teach
according to the International curriculum and if so, the details thereof and if not, the
reasons therefor;
(c) whether the Government has received any complaints regarding the syllabus or
teaching method as per the international syllabus;
(d) if so, the details thereof; and
(e) whether Government is ready to promote research based learning and advance
methodology in International curriculum and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (e) : Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has discontinued CBSEinternational
curriculum in January, 2017 due to complaints with regard to high fees
being charged as well as exorbitantly high priced books by the schools offering CBSE –
international curriculum. In the light of the complaints the matter of discontinuation of
CBSE –international curriculum was decided in consultation with stake holders in the
Curriculum Committee and Governing Body of CBSE. Presently, there is no proposal for
promotion of international curriculum.
