Question : Laying of Pit Lines

(a) whether the General Manager Central Railway has forwarded proposals to lay pit lines at Latur Railway Station on 03 December, 2019 and at Phaltan railway station;

(b) if so, the details of the railway stations wherein request to lay pit lines were made in these proposals;

(c) whether the Government is likely to sanction these proposals to lay pit lines in both these stations in view of urgent need;

(d) if not, the reasons therefor;

(e) whether the Government has not sanctioned similar proposals for construction of pit lines and if so, the reasons therefor;

(f) whether the public representatives have also submitted requests in this regard; and

(g) if so, the decision taken so far thereon?

(a) to (d): Central Railway had proposed a work of “Latur-Proposal for development of Coaching Terminal at Latur Station” against Umbrella Work of 2019-20.The proposal included the provision of one washing-cum-pit line at Latur. The proposal has been examined. However, keeping in view the operational requirements, the proposal has not been taken forward.
(e): Pit Line facilities are planned and sanctioned as per operational requirement of Indian Railways (IR).
(f): Yes, Sir.
(g): Public Representatives were informed that Pit Line facilities are planned and sanctioned as per operational requirement of IR.
