Question : COMMUNITY POLICING SCHEME IN DELHI



(a) whether Delhi Police have introduced community policing scheme in the city;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the objectives of the scheme;

(c) whether any review of scheme has been made by the Government;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the measures contemplated by the Government to remove the deficiencies identified to make the scheme more purposeful ?

(a) & (b): The Community Policing Scheme has been in operation in Delhi for last several years. However, in February this year, Delhi Police launched a modified Scheme by bringing under one umbrella several schemes aimed at promoting the interface between the police and the public in order to make Community Policing more effective. The main objective of the Scheme is prevention of crime in active participation with members of the public.

(c) to (e): Delhi Police have been regularly reviewing the implementation of the Scheme and removal of deficiencies, if any, is a continuing process.
