Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has formulated a scheme regarding Zoonotic diseases transmitted through the animals in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) whether the Government proposes to set up a Zoonotic wing at Jabalpur?

(a) & (b): The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is implementing the Inter-sectoral Coordination for Prevention and Control of Zoonotic Diseases Programme to strengthen the inter-sectoral collaboration for prevention and control of Zoonotic diseases of Public Health Importance. Strategies of the programme are as under:

i) Strengthening of inter-sectoral co-ordination and State Surveillance Units (SSU) by utilizing existing surveillance system for collection and collation of animal disease data for setting up early warning signals under the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP).
ii) Trained manpower development.
iii) Sensitization of professionals in various sectors.
iv) Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activites to create awareness among community and professionals.
