(a): As per the Quick Results of Fourth All India Census of micro, small and medium
enterprises (MSMEs) with the reference year of 2006-07, the category-wise number of persons
including those belonging to the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (SCs/STs) and Other
Backward Classes (OBCs) employed in micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) during
2006-07, 2007-08 and 2008-09(latest available) is given in the Table below.

(b): Labour laws for the welfare of the persons working in the industrial sector,
implemented by Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India and the State
Governments from time to time are also applicable to the MSME sector. Ministry of micro,
small and medium enterprises has not issued any specific labour law for this sector.
