Question : Bifurcation of States

(a) whether the Government has received proposals/requests from State Governments/political parties/social organisations regarding bifurcation of some States and creation of new States including Uttar Pradesh for better administration and if so, the details thereof and the action taken by the Government in this regard; and

(b) the time by which new States are likely to be created?

(a) & (b): Proposals/requests from various fora are received by the Government requesting for creation of new States. However, there is no proposal under consideration with the Government for creation of any new State.
