Question : Cyber Crime and Economic Offence

(a) whether cyber crimes and economic offences have increased considerably during the last three years;

(b) if so, the details thereof indicating the number of cases reported during the said period, State-wise;

(c) whether the Government has decided to set up special police stations and laboratories to deal with cyber crime cases in every district of the country;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether the Government proposes to arrest and minimize the increasing number of cyber crime cases especially those concerning illiterate or innocent civilians who share their bank account details to a fake call and due to increasing use of digital transaction; and

(f) if so, the details thereof along with the measures taken to check cyber crimes due to increase use of net banking and digital transactions?

(a) to (f): The State/UT wise details of cyber crimes including the crimes related economic offences for 2013, 2014 & 2015 registered in National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) are at Annexure- I. Government has taken many initiatives / measures to spread awareness to check cyber crimes such as regular advisories by ICERT (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team), Digishala Awareness Campaign, Digital Financial Inclusion Awareness and Access (Digital Jagriti), Educational TV channel “DigiShala”, etc. The Government has also decided to establish a centre for Cyber Crime Prevention against Women & Children (CCPWC).
