(a) whether India is still lagging behindin the e-Commerce industry includingonline retail business in comparison withmany of the developed and developingcountries;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the revenue earned by theGovernment by way of taxes etc. throughonline trading; and

(d) the steps being taken by theGovernment to promote online business?

(a) & (b): No study on status of e-commerce including online retail business of India has been undertaken by the Government.

(c):Revenues in respect of online trading are not separately maintained.

(d): The Government has taken a number of steps to promote business atmosphere in the country. Foreign Direct Investment policy permits 100% FDI under automatic route in B2B of e-commerce. Besides an online single window in the form of the eBiz Mission Mode Project under the National eGovernance Plan with a view to create a business and investor friendly ecosystem in India has been operationalized. Process of applying for Industrial Licence& Industrial Entrepreneur Memorandum has been made online on 24X7 basis through eBiz Portal.
