Question : Uniform Civil Code


(a) whether the Government proposes to enact a Uniform Civil Code in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government has recently sought any study report from the Law Commission on various aspects of enforcement of Uniform Civil Code in the country;
(d) if so, the details thereof;
(e) whether the Government has received suggestions from the members of various communities and organisations in order to consider all aspects of the action being taken to adopt Uniform Civil Code;
(f) if so, the details thereof; and
(g) the steps taken by the Government to adopt Uniform Civil Code in the country in the last two years?

(a) to (g) In view of Article 44 of the Constitution of India, Government has requested the Law Commission of India to undertake examination of various issues relating to uniform civil code and to make recommendation thereon.
