(a) & (b): The mandate of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005 (Mahatma Gandhi NREGA) is to provide for not less than 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to every rural household whose adult member volunteers to do unskilled manual work.
(c) to (e): Mahatma Gandhi NREGA is a demand driven wage employment Scheme which provides livelihood security, i.e., fall back option for livelihood for the rural households. The demand for work is influenced by various factors such as rain-fall, availability of alternative and remunerative employment opportunities outside Mahatma Gandhi NREGS etc. During the current FY 2020-21 as on 12.09.2020, a total of 7.93 lakh households is various States/UTs, as per annexed details, completed 100 days of employment under the Mahatma Gandhi NREGS as per their demand.
