Question : OUTSTANDING DUES



(a) whether a huge amount is outstanding from various State Electricity Boards and power companies against the coal supplied to them by Coal India Ltd. and its subsidiary companies;

(b) if so, the subsidiary-wise amount not paid by each of the State Electricity Boards and power companies and the time since when these dues are outstanding;

(c) the reasons for such a large outstanding amount; and

(d) the action taken to recover the outstanding amount along with the progress made in this regard till now?

(a)to(d): The outstanding dues of Coal India Limited (CIL) from Power Sector against the coal supplied stood at Rs. 8358.52 crores as on 31.12.2014.

The subsidiary-wise outstanding dues for Power Sector as on 31.12.2014 is enclosed at Annexure-I.Age-wise break up of dues outstanding is enclosed at Annexure-II.

It has been reported by the CIL that themain reason for large outstanding amount is paucity of funds of State Electricity Boards and power companies.

CIL has been regularly reviewing the outstanding dues position party-wise and subsidiary-wise which is further pursued and followed up by the concerned subsidiaries. In case of major defaulting power-houses, matter is taken up at higher levels of the respective state governments. It may be mentioned that CIL has reported that dues from State Electricity Boards and power companies have decreased from Rs. 9770.41 Crores as on 31.03.2014 to Rs. 8358.52 Crores as on 31.12.2014.
