(a) whether the Government has taken or proposes to take any steps to set geographical mark to textile products particularly handloom sarees, dhoties etc; and

(a) & (b): Government of India encourages State Governments to register handloom products including handloom sarees, dhoties etc., identified by State Governments under Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999 which provides legal protection and prevent unauthorized use of these products by others. The following 104 textile products have been identified by various State Governments for registration under the Act:-
