MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT (DR. SHASHI THAROOR)
(a)to(c): Education is a subject in the Concurrent List of the Constitution, and the
majority of schools are under the jurisdiction of the State Governments. However, the Government
Schools and those privately managed independent schools which are affiliated with the Central
Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) have to follow a set of norms for admissions. Admission to
the candidates is given after taking into account the norms prescribed by the CBSE and the
provisions contained in the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009.
