Question : SALE OF SILT STRIP IN ANDHRA PRADESH

(a) whether the silt strip over an extensive area of the Krishna river in Andhra Pradesh is being sold for commercial pulp;

(b) whether as a result thereof Environment Scientists apprehend serious obstruction in the natural water flow of the Krishna river; and

(c) if so, the steps/action taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) to (c) River reaches within the States are managed by the respective State Governments. According to Andhra Pradesh Irrigation Department, they have no such proposal.
