Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE (IC) FOR LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT (SHRI BANDARU DATTATREYA)

(a): The Insured Persons (i.e. ESI Beneficiaries) are entitled to receive reasonable medical care under the ESI Act, 1948. The medical services to Insured Persons are provided in cooperation with State Government through ESI dispensaries, hospitals and tie-up arrangements with public and private hospitals. The ESI Corporation has decided in its 162nd meeting held on 30.09.2014 that the focus of ESI Corporation should be on providing primary, secondary and super-specialty medical care services to Insured Persons.

(b) to (d): Approximately 85% construction work of Medical College & Hospital in Faridabad is complete. One of the major items remaining is setting up of 66 KV gas based electric sub- station for supplying HT power. The tender for the purpose has already been invited.

The ESI hospital, Faridabad is already functioning in old premises.

In view of the large scale regulatory requirements of infrastructure, manpower and equipment required for getting approval of Medical Council of India, definite time frame cannot be given by which the said institution/hospitals will become functional.
