(a) whether the coal block allotment for ultra mega power project in Kakwara in Banka district of Bihar is pending with the Government for no objection certificate and other observations;
(b) if so, the details and present status thereof; and
(c) the time by which the Government proposes to issue approval in this regard?

(a) to (c) : Ministry of Power had requested Ministry of Coal to consider allocation of additional coal reserves adjacent to Pirpainti/Barahat coal block earmarked for Bihar Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP). Ministry of Coal had proposed additional area of 3.2 sq. km on the eastern side of the Pirpainti/Barahat coal block up to Dhulia Nala to meet the requirement of Bihar UMPP. Ministry of Power has conveyed its acceptance to this enlarged Pirpainti/Barahat coal block for Bihar UMPP. Accordingly, in-principle allotment of this enlarged Pirpainti/Barahatcoal blockfor Bihar UMPP has already been made.
