Question : Audit of Hospital Beds

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has conducted audits of the total number of hospital beds in Government hospitals in the country, including hospital beds in central government-run hospitals;

(b) if so, the details thereof since 2014 and if not, the reasons therefor;

(c) whether the Government has conducted, or intends to conduct, an audit of the total number of hospital beds in private hospitals also; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (d): ‘Health’ being a State subject, it is primarily responsibility of the State Government/UTs to make efforts for increasing the bed strength in their hospital in accordance with requirements and fund availability. No such data in this respect is centrally maintained.

As far as Central Government Hospitals located in Delhi namely Safdarjung, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia and Lady Hardinge Medical College & Associated Hospitals and the North East Institutes are concerned, the current bed strength is as under:-
