Question : SELF EMPLOYMENT SCHEME



(a) whether Government have launched any self-employment scheme for unemployed mechanical engineers to promote self-employment;

(b) if so, the number of beneficiaries in Maharashtra State under this scheme during last two years;

(c) the steps taken by the Government to make this scheme more effective; and

(d) the details (names) of the above mentioned scheme?

(a) to (d): While there is no exclusive Scheme to promote self employment of mechanical engineers only all eligible persons, including mechanical engineers, can obtain loans under the available Schemes for self employment, which include, the margin money Scheme of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), the Prime Minister`s Rozgar Yojana (PMRY), etc. In addition, mechanical engineers are eligible to avail loans from commercial banks under the priority sector for professional and self employed ventures. Separate data on the number of mechanical engineers assisted under these Schemes is not maintained centrally.
