(a) The National Culture Fund (NCF) was set up by the Govt. of India as a Trust under the Charitable Endowment Act, 1890 on 28th November, 1996 with a view to mobilizing extra resources through Public Private Partnerships towards promoting, protecting and preserving India’s cultural heritage. The Fund aims at inviting the participation of the corporate sector, both public and private sector companies, non-government organizations, state governments and individuals for promoting, protecting and preserving tangible and intangible cultural heritage of India.
(b) The funds with NCF include the corpus provided by the Government of India as well as donors and the interest thereon. As on 31st March, 2016 the total amount with NCF was Rs. 64.79 crores (approx.).
(c) The details of funds received from the donors during the last five years are given at Annexure-I.
(d) The NCF was involved in implementation of various projects for maintenance of heritage structures in various States during the last five years. An amount of Rs.9.26 crores (approx.) was spent in various States including Rs. 2.90 crores (approx.) in the State of Rajasthan during the period 2011-12 to 2015-16 as per details given in Annexure-II.
