(a)to (c) The World Environment Day (WED) is being celebrated on June 5th of every year. During these celebrations people are encouraged to plant saplings. States also carry out various plantation activities such as mass plantation drives involving public participation coinciding this period. This year WED was celebrated with the theme of “Air Pollution”, to promote clean air. On this WED 2019 seedlings were planted as symbolic celebration and an advertisement was also released encouraging all to plant a tree.
Tree Plantation/Afforestation being multi departmental activity are also taken up cross-sectorally by various Departments, NGOs, Civil Society, Corporate bodies etc. under various Central and State Plan/Non Plan Schemes.
After plantations of seedlings, maintenance work including watering/irrigating, weeding and casualty replacement is done by the implementing agency, to ensure good health and survival of plants and the expenditure for the same is met from various schemes of the centre and state like NAP, GIM, CAMPA funds MGNRGS, PMKSY etc. including EAP under which the plantations are carried out and as per the specific scheme guidelines
