Question : DEVELOPMENT OF MUMBAI



(a) whether Mumbai is likely to develop on the line of Shanghai as reported in The Hindustan Times dated February 14, 2005;

(b) if so, the facts thereof and reaction of the Union Government thereto;

(c) whether the Government of Maharashtra had sent any plan to the Union Government and has also lately revised it;

(d) if so, the salient features thereof indicating the changes proposed and cost of the revised project;

(e) the action taken by the Union Government thereon;

(f) whether all the requisite clearances have been taken from the Union Government;

(g) if so, the details thereof;

(h) whether due notice was given to the slum dwellers and others before undertaking clearance drive;

(i) if so, the number of slum dwellings and other houses/buildings demolished/to be demolished;

(j) whether the project includes a plan for resettlement and rehabilitation of displaced people; and

(k) if so, the steps taken to monitor the development plan and to safeguard the interests of the affected people?
