Question : Swachh Bharat Mission

(a) whether there has been any progress in the Swachh Bharat Mission Flagship programme since its implementation in 2014, if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;

(b) the increase in coverage under the Mission as of now;

(c) the details regarding the success of Swachh Bharat Mission, State-wise; and

(d) the number of villages declared free of open defecation as on date?

(a) to (d): As per information provided by Ministry of Jal Shakti, under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) [SBM(G)], more than 10.15 crore toilets have been constructed till 05.12.2019. As per the data reported by the States/UTs on the online Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) of SBM (G), sanitation coverage in the rural areas of the country was 38.7% as on 2.10.2014, which as of now has increased to 100%. All the 5, 99,963 villages of the country have declared themselves Open Defecation Free (ODF). States/UTs-wise number of individual households latrines (IHHLs) constructed and ODF declared villages are given at Annexure.
