Question : HISTORICAL BUILDINGS IN DILAPIDATED CONDITIONS



(a) the number of historical buildings in dilapidated condition which were repaired in the country during the last three years and the current year;

(b) the funds allocated by the Government to carry out repair work of such buildings during the said period;

(c) whether the Government has conducted any survey of buildings of historical importance which require repair work during the current year; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) The protected monuments / historical buildings of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) are in a good state of preservation. The conservation work of the monuments is a continuous process. During the last three years 4,745 Nos. of conservation works were attended at the protected monuments. For the current financial year 1,595 Nos. of works have been proposed to be taken up at different monuments.

(b)The details of expenditure incurred during the last three years and allocation of funds for the current financial year are as given below:

(c)&(d) Conservation works at the monuments are identified depending upon the availability of resources and need of repair at different sites. Conservation works are proposed by Circle Offices of ASI after the field survey/assessment.
