Question : SPICEJET FLIGHTS



(a) whether SpiceJet airline has been cancelling a large number of its daily flights on various routes thereby causing inconvenience to air passengers;

(b) if so, the details thereof along-with the reasons therefor;

(c) whether the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has asked the airline to submit a weekly report on the status of its operations; and

(d) if so, the details thereof along with the weekly reports submitted by SpiceJet so far?

(a) & (b): Yes , Madam. It has come to the notice of the Government that at present, out of 48 aircrafts (33B737 and 15 Q400) endorsed on Spice Jet Air Operator Permit (AOP), only 35 aircrafts (22 B737 and 13 Q400) are opera- tional. As such Spice Jet has gradually reduced flight across its network from 332 to 239 on daily basis from 01/09/2014 till date.

(c) & (d): Yes, Madam. Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued directives to Spice Jet on 5/12/2014, to submit periodic reports. Extracts of directives issued by DGCA to Spice Jet and report submitted by the Company is at Annexure I & II respectively.
