Question : TRAIN-TRUCK ACCIDENT AT LEVEL CROSSING



(a) whether the Government are aware of the train accident between inter-city Express and a truck at a level crossing near Ismailapul, Sampla, Haryana, on February 14, 2001 as appearing in `Dainik Jagaran` dated February 15, 2001;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether this was the fifth accident at the same level crossing during the last one year;

(d) if so, whether any enquiry has been conducted by the Government in this regard; and

(e) if so, the outcome thereof and action taken thereon?

(a) & (b): Yes, Sir. On 14.02.2001 one truck dashed against train engine of 4721 Up Inter-city Express at unmanned level crossing between Sampla-Kharawar stations on Shakurbasti-Rohtak section of Delhi division, Northern Railway.

(c): Only one accident has occurred at the same level crossing on 01.02.1999 during last two years.

(d): This accident was enquired into by a Committee of Officers which concluded that this accident occurred due to negligence on the part of road users while crossing the unmanned level crossing.

(e): In this accident no railway staff has been held responsible so question of action taken does not arise.
