THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR HEALTH & FAMILY WELFARE(SHRI SUDIP BANDYOPADHYAY)
(a) to (c): National Rural Health Mission(NRHM) was launched in the year 2005 with
an aim to provide accessible, affordable and quality healthcare to the rural population
especially to the vulnerable sections. Under the mission, funds are provided to the
States to improve public health facilities where people can avail treatment either free
of cost or on nominal charges.
Recently, Government of India has launched Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakramâ (JSSK)
under the overall umbrella of NRHM which entitles free delivery including free medicine
with zero out of pocket expenses to all pregnant women accessing public health institutions.
This initiative also provides for free treatment to all new born during the first 30 days
from their birth in public healthcare facilities.
