Question : Digitisation of AYUSH Sector

Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has signed any MoU with Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology for the digitisation of AYUSH sector, if so, the details thereof;

(b) the amount of funds allocated by the Government for the said purpose; and

(c) the other steps taken by the Government to create awareness on the potential and efficacy of Ayurveda and other systems of AYUSH?

(a): Yes. The Ministry of AYUSH (MoA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) on 01.07.2019. MoA, in pursuance to the National Health policy 2017 and e- governance initiative, aims to create an IT backbone in the form of AYUSH GRID for the entire AYUSH sector, covering all Health care systems of AYUSH which will be helpful to all the stakeholders of AYUSH. This development requires high level of technical support from IT experts. MeitY along with various organizations under MeitY shall provide technical inputs/support for development of AYUSH GRID of MOA as and when feasible.
(b): No specific Budget provision has been made for the AYUSH GRID Project.
(c): A Central Sector Scheme for Promotion of Information Education and communication (IEC) in AYUSH has been devised for this purpose. Under this Scheme, the Ministry of AYUSH takes up initiatives to create awareness about and to promote AYUSH Systems of medicine including Ayurveda. These initiatives include organizing Aarogya Fairs, Melas, Conferences, Exhibitions, Seminars, Workshops, Symposiums and Ayurveda Parvs. The IEC Scheme also supports undertaking publicity campaigns in the country, for encouraging AYUSH Systems including traditional Indian Systems of Medicine.

The Ministry also observes days dedicated to AYUSH Systems of Medicine viz. International Day of Yoga, Ayurveda Day, Unani Day, Siddha Day, Naturopathy Day, Homoeopathy Day, etc. to create awareness about the benefits of the respective AYUSH system of medicine including Ayurveda.
