Question : Ongoing Projects in Karnataka

(a) whether the Government has received any request to assist the 65 km road project which will connect four highways-Tumakuru road, Ballari road, Old Madras road and Hosur road to provide better connectivity with Kanakapura to Mysuru, if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the Karnataka Government sought any foreign assistance for the project, if so, the details thereof;

(c) the details of the expenditure incurred on the ongoing projects in Karnataka along with cost escalation in these projects and the reasons therefor;

(d) whether the Government has received any complaint regarding irregularities in the said projects: and

(e) if so, the details thereof along with the action taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) Yes, Madam. The Ministry, based on the request of State Government has included the 65 Km road project connecting the Tumakuru road, Ballari road, Old Madras road and Hosur road under the “BharatmalaPariyojana” for development by NHAI.

(b) No, Madam.

(c) The total expenditure incurred on the ongoing projects in Karnataka is Rs 6603.83 Cr. There are thirteen works in which cost escalation has taken place due to various reasons like, high tender premium, increase in Land acquisition cost, increase in cost of utility shifting, variation in quantities due to site conditions.

(d) No, Madam.
