(a) Number of proposals for setting up new AYUSH colleges and to start new post-graduate courses under section 13A of Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970 and 12A of Homoeopathy Central Council Act, 1973 received during April 2016 are as under:
New Ayurveda Colleges - 108
To start Ayurveda PG courses - 33
New Unani Colleges - 09
To start Unani PG courses - 02
New Siddha Colleges - 01
New Homoeopathy colleges - 45
To start Homoeopathy PG courses - 09
Total - 207
States/UT-wise details are given in Annexure – I & II.
(b) & (c) The details of procedure/examination for admission in the institutes/colleges offering courses in AYUSH disciplines and the qualifications and experience for teaching staff are detailed in following regulations concerned:
i. The Indian Medicine Central Council (Minimum Standards of Education in Indian Medicine) Amendment Regulations, 2016 (for Ayurveda).
ii. The Indian Medicine Central Council (Minimum Standards of Education in Indian Medicine) Amendment Regulations, 2016 (for Siddha).
iii. The Indian Medicine Central Council (Minimum Standards of Education in Indian Medicine) Amendment Regulations, 2016 (for Unani).
iv. The Homoeopathy (Degree Course) B.H.M.S. Regulations, 1983 (as amended till 2016).
v. The Indian Medicine Central Council (Post Graduate Ayurveda Education) Regulations, 2016.
vi. The Indian Medicine Central Council (Post-graduate Unani Medical Education) Regulations, 2016.
vii. The Indian Medicine Central Council (Post-graduate Siddha Education) Regulations, 2016.
The Homoeopathy (Post Graduate Degree Course) Regulations, 1989 (as amended till 2016).
(d) The curriculum of various courses revised from time to time by Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) and Central Council of Homoeopathy (CCH) and approved by the Government, which are as follows: The details of regulations are given in Annexure – III.
To promote higher education in the AYUSH systems, the Central Sector Scheme of International Cooperation has a component under which International Scholarship/fellowships in the field of AYUSH courses are offered in premier Institutes/colleges in India.
(e) The Central Government has taken steps to improve the standard of AYUSH institutions/college in the country by amending the regulations notified by the CCIM as per details given in Annexure – IV.
Important amendments made in these regulations are as follows:
i. Provision of online proforma of visit forthe colleges and visitors.
ii. Display of attendance of staff, students and patients on college website and college linking them with CCIM and Ministry of AYUSH.
iii. Mandatory requirement of Web-based and CRC (Central Registration Certificate issued by Central Council) linked computerized biometric attendance.
iv. The requirement to grant conditional permission is increased.
Further, the assistance given by the Government of India under the component of Development of AYUSH Institutions of National AYUSH Mission (NAM) to facilitate improvement in infrastructure in AYUSH Colleges and attached Hospitals and thereby to improve the quality of existing educational Institutions.
