Question : AFFIDAVIT BY GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES



(a) whether the Government propose to make it mandatory to filling affidavits by the Government employees regarding their movable and immovable property to ensure clean image of the Government servants;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government propose to set up a Committee for regular review of details of property; and

(d) if so, the views of the Union Government in this regard?

(a) No, Sir. Disciplinary action under the disciplinary rules can be taken against a Government servant who fails to submit the property return/report in time or for furnishing wrong information. Hence, there is no need of filling any affidavit in the matter.

(b) Does not arise.

(c) No, Sir.

(d) The property returns/reports submitted by the Government servants are to be maintained by the prescribed authorities in the Administrative Ministry/Department/Office after such scrutiny as may be considered necessary. Hence, there is no need of setting up a Committee for regular review of details of property.
