Question : Cancellation of Tentuloi Coal Block

(a) whether the Government of Odisha has requested the Union Government for the cancellation of Tentuloi coal block and to allocate other suitable coal block to Odisha Thermal Power Corporation Limited (OTPCL) as techno commercial mining viability of the block upto the depth of 900 metres makes it unsuitable for mining of coal;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the action taken by the Union Government in this regard?

(a) to (c) : Yes, Sir. Government of Odisha has requested for cancellation of allotment of Tentuloi coal block allocated to M/s.Odisha Thermal Power Corporation Ltd. (OTPCL) under the provisions of the Auction by Competitive Bidding of Coal Mines Rules, 2012 and to allocate Chendipada and Chendipada-II coal mines. The request for allotment of Chendipada and Chendipada-II coal mines to OTPCL will be considered in accordance with the provisions of the Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Act, 2015 and the Rules made thereunder as and when applications are invited for allotment of these coal mines by the Nominated Authority.
