(a) whether India-Russia talks have been held for co-operation in the field of Ayurvedic Research;

(b) if so, the salient features thereof;

(c) whether any joint center for Ayurvedic Research is underway; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (SHRI A. RAJA)

(a) & (b): It has been agreed to conduct joint clinical and paraclinical studies of preparations and methods used in Indian traditional systems of medicine, primarily in Ayurveda as well as Homoeopathy, with the view of establishing criteria for evaluation of their efficacy and their proper registration in the Russian Federation.

(c) & (d): A Memorandum of Understanding to establish Russia-India Centre for Ayurvedic Research has been concluded between Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow in March 2002. The Centre is in the process of being registered as per Russian Government laws as reported by Department of Science and Technology.
