Question : INTER- STATE MOVEMENT OF FOODGRAINS

(a) whether the Inter-State movement of foodgrains has significantly increased during the last three years;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the movement of foodgrains from surplus region to deficient areas vis-à-vis, storage capacity, procurement, stock, allocation and off-take of foodgrain in those regions is also being monitored by the Ministry; and

(d) if so, the details of foodgrains stored in different States alongwith the foodgrains moved to those States, State-wise?

(a) & ( b): There has been no significant increase in the Inter-State movement of foodgrains in the last three years. As per the information available in this Ministry, the Inter-State movement of foodgrains by rail during the last three years has been as under:-
