Question : Super Speciality Hospitals

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has set up Super Speciality Block in the various medical colleges in the country including Assam recently;

(b) whether the Government has taken any effective steps to expand and increase the number of Super Speciality Hospitals in every State across the country;

(c) if so, the details thereof; and

(d) the details of the projects approved by the Government for the setting up and expansion of Super Speciality Hospitals along with the funds allocated and spent on them?

(a) & (b): The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare under the aegis of Pradhan Mantri Swastha Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) has initiated the modernisation of several existing Government Medical Colleges in the country including Assam. The project includes construction and setting up of Super Speciality blocks in the existing Government Medical Colleges (GMCs). Apart from upgradation of GMCs, several new AIIMS like institutions are also being constructed, under PMSSY, in various parts of the country which also have Super Speciality treatment facilities.
(c) & (d): The PMSSY programme is being implemented in different phases. The phase-wise list of Government Medical Colleges taken up for upgradation and establishment of AIIMS like institutions along with allocation of funds are given in Annexure – I.
The details of new AIIMS approved / announced by the Government for setting up in various states is given in Annexure – II. The details of fund allocated and spent w.r.t. AIIMS like institution for the last three years and current year is given in Annexure – III.
The details of fund spent in upgradation of existing Government Medical Colleges for phases I and II is given in Annexure – IV.
